I’m back with another food update! And I want to begin with my home park’s Flame Tree Barbeque. I’ve wanted to check these restaurants off my bucket list for quite some time because I always smell it at work, and it makes my stomach automatically grumble. So when my old CP roommate Reina came to visit and we decided to take over DAK, I suggested we grab dinner there. What a good choice!
First off, it is cheap and there is a cast discount. (YAY!) I got the half chicken, which was incredibly moist! The coleslaw was good – not remarkable – and the bake beans were weird. But surprisingly, my favorite part of this experience was the seating, ha! I never knew Flame Tree had SEVEN dining islands, most of which are quite, secluded, and overlook Mount Everest. If you are looking a little escape and relaxation while at DAK, hit up Flame Tree!
I can also check off “Deep Fried Candy Bar”, because I finally tried one at Cooke’s of Dublin. Reina and I split a fried Snicker’s as a St. Patty’s Day treat. It was warm, gooey, and yummy, but it definitely goes “clunk” in the bottom of your stomach. While I am glad I tried it, I don’t think I’ll be getting one again; a little too heavy for my liking.
Speaking of my food bucket list, I also tried the “Nudel Gratin” in the Germany pavilion over at Epcot. Ohhh man, was this dish good! See, my favorite food in the WHOLE world is macaroni cheese because it combines two of my favorite things: pasta and cheese! I will admit though, it is pretty greasy. But I didn’t even care; it was that yummy! Also, it isn’t large enough to make a meal, so I paired it was the bratwurst, brotchen, and sauerkraut entrée. The combination was super good and only cost me a little over $11. Not too shabby!
And to end this post, I want to mention something super cool. Sometime this summer, Downtown Disney is getting a FOOD TRUCK PARK! And food trucks are one of my most favorite things on this planet, ha!! As you can see, I am pretty excited about it and will obviously be checking it out when it arrives, so expect an update on that too! =)
