Make Extra Money At Home: My Tips & Recommendations

Free Gift Cards Earned Online

These are the free gift cards I took on our recent Disney trip. All earned from the sites mentioned in this post!

I just updated this for our new readers!  These are all legitimate companies that I am either currently working with or have in the past. If you are looking to make a little extra money, this is a great way to do it. I suggest signing up for more than one to find your favorites. You won’t know if you like a company if you don’t try! Also, it is a good idea to open a “survey only” email account, or set up an email filter, so it is easier keep track of your surveys and offers.

Online Surveys/Product Testers

  • Inbox Dollars: Earn cash by reading emails, watching videos, and & more. Cash out at $30!
  • Nielsen Home Scan: Scan groceries and do paid surveys at home.
  • MindField – Top Online Internet Panel: Test product & take surveys. I’ve received several $5 surveys from them!
  • Ipsos i-Say Community: Test new products and services before anyone else.
  • MyPoints: All I do is click on the emails and take the surveys. Probaby the easiest. I cash our for between 5-10 gift cards a year!
  • Valued Opinions: Receive up to $5 for every survey and up to $50 for specialist surveys.
  • Vindale Research: Get paid to review products in the comfort of your own home.
  • Reward Port: Take survey & play games to earn points. You get 500 points just for signing up!
  • MySurvey: Share about the products you want & earn points for taking surveys (1,150 points = $10.00).
  • Swagbucks: Earn points redeemable for free gift cards for doing daily searches online. This ridiculously easy. If you search online at all (who doesn’t??), you should be using. I amazed at how quickly the points add up.

Shopping Online:

You guys hear me mention this over and over! IF you shop online, and you’re not doing it through a cash back program, you’re saying NO to FREE money!! Here are my favorites:

  • Ebates: Find thousands of coupons, promo codes & discounts. Get a FREE $10 gift card for joining.
  • MyPoints: Every couple of months they offer 2,000 points for an Avon or Lancome order…love it!
  • Sunshine Rewards: My favorite! Have been with them for years! Go HERE to see how I earned $900! Plus, exclusive to my readers only, you’ll get a free $2.50 just for joining! Thanks Sunshine :-)

Need to know information:

  • Never pay to join, ever. All of the companies above are free to join!
  • Sometimes you will need to create a profile or answer questions. This is just their way of getting you to the appropriate survey. I check all of the interests so I qualify for more.
  • Surveys aren’t sent daily. The more companies you join, the more surveys will be sent to you.
  • Surveys are limited. When you receive an email, complete the survey as soon as you can.
  • Set up a separate email account just for your survey sites so your inbox doesn’t get full of clutter.
  • Keep track of the surveys you have done, the company you did it for and when you receive payment. I use a spiral notebook that I keep in my desk.

I do not spend much time doing this. Like many of you, I don’t have much free time so I don’t spend more than 15 minutes a day doing surveys…if at all. I’ll usually check what surveys/offers I have been sent while drinking my first cup of coffee. If one interests me, I do it. I always use my rewards for our Disney trips! I cashed out over $600 for our trip in November! That said, you could probably earn much more than I do if you dedicate more time to it. When I shop online, it literally only takes a few seconds of my time to login to my cash back program and shop through their link…and I get rewarded big time for doing it!!

Keeping it real…you won’t get rich doing this but I earn an extra $800 – $1500 a year doing this in less than 30 minutes a day and most days I don’t do anything! If you can dedicate more time to it, you could earn much more than I do. Reader, Shelly is stay at home mom and sent me this email:

“Hi Andrea, I love your site and have followed you for a few months now. I just wanted to thank-you for your post on how to make money online. I am a stay at home mom and have been averaging $5 to $7 a day doing the surveys. I hope to one day take my kids to Disney World and so appreciate all your tips. Thank-you again, Shelly”

WAY TO GO Shelly woohoo! Great job!! $5 – $7 a day is $150 to $210 a month, $1800 to $2520 a YEAR…enough to pay for a Disney trip :-) If you guys have any questions, please feel free to contact me using the link at the top of the site, leave a comment or ask in our Facebook Community

Disney 101 | What’s a FASTPASS?

Disney 101 | What’s a FASTPASS?

In the “Breaking Down Disney Lingo” post, I briefly explained the Disney term “FASTPASS.” Today, I want to go more in detail about the FASTPASS, or FP, so for those who are unfamiliar or confused about them will (hopefully) understand them a lot better!

If you recall in the lingo post, a FP is basically a printed voucher that allows Disney park visitors to wait in shorter lines for some of their favorite rides. To obtain the voucher, guests should first find a FP kiosk. These kiosks can be found at many rides throughout all the parks and they are typically placed near the ride’s entrance. There will be plenty of signs directing guests to these kiosks’ locations, but you can also always ask a cast member for help.

Once there, guests should insert their park ticket or room key into the kiosk and receive a printed FP. Each FP is good for ONE guest, so remember to scan each person’s ticket/key in your party. In my family, we usually have a “runner” – this is someone who gathers all of the tickets/room keys and “runs” to a FP kiosk to scan them. This helps save time and also causes less chaos, as the area around the FP kiosks can be very busy and crowded.

Printed on the FP is the attraction’s name, the return time, and the time you can get your next FP. The return time is a designated time you are allowed to revisit the attraction and go through the FP line. These lines have a substantial shorter wait time, making it so you and your family can go and see more while at the parks. Also, above the FP line will be a clock displaying the time in which the CMs are accepting FPs. If it is the time printed on your FP, just go up to the CM and he/she will look at your FP, allowing you to enter the line. They will not let you use your FP earlier than the time printed on them – trust me, I have tried! Also, be sure to hold on to these FPs until a second CM further down the queue line takes it.

The only catch to the FP is that park guests can only have one FP per time interval. However, once the time on your FP has passed, you and your family are free to visit another kiosk and get more! Also, you do not necessarily have to return during the time printed on your FP. As long as you are not there early and it is the day in which you printed the FP, you can return to the ride at any time to use it. My family and I do this a lot actually. Since we are not required to return at a specific time, it allows us even more freedom in what we do while at the parks.

Also, another thing my family does is if we do not want or cannot use all of our FPs, we just give them to another family. It is really fun to surprise other Disney guests with them and I enjoy seeing their reactions. Plus, it is a good way to not let your FPs go to waste.

Here are some things to remember about the FP:

  • Any Disney park visitor can receive a FB. You DO NOT have to stay at a Disney resort in order to benefit from the FP.
  • To get a FP, you have to scan your park ticket or room key.
  • Although they can be found at all the parks, FPs are not available at every attraction.
  • Before you ride anything when arriving to a park, go get a FP for your favorite attraction!
  • You can use your FP at any point after the printed time interval.
  • Remember to get a FP for every member in your party.
  • To maximize your number of FPs, try to get your next batch right after the time has passed on your previous FPs. For example, say you have a FP for Splash Mountain and the return time is from 12:30-1:30 pm. You should then try to get another FP at 1:30 pm, and then your next one after that FP’s time has elapsed.
  • FPs are only good for the day in which they are printed.

Below are the attractions at each WDW park that offer FPs:

Hopefully this post helps to clarify any questions or concerns you readers may have had regarding the FP. I really encourage anyone vacationing to WDW or DL to take advantage of the FP because it really does save you a ton of time. Plus, it allows your family to ride some your favorite attractions more frequently, and that is always a good thing! =)

Disney Movie Releases | January and February

Disney New and Deals

Winters where I live are brutal and make me feel miserable anytime I step outside my warm, cozy house. Because winter reduces me to bear-like living conditions (AKA: hibernation, ha ha!), I usually occupy my time solely with indoor activities. However, Disney knows exactly what I need this year to perk up my winter blues: new movie releases, YAY! Below are the upcoming movie releases this January and February:

January

  • Snow Buddies (DVD, Blu-Ray, and Movie Download) – Everyone’s favorite puppies are making adventures again – This time their journey begins in Alaska! Along the way, they make new puppy pals, who help them compete in a dog sledding race.
  • Treasure Buddies (DVD and Movie Download) – Not only are these popular pups heading to Alaska, they are also making their way to Egypt in their latest film. As always, new friendships and memories are made as the puppies explore Egypt’s ancient ruins.

 February

  • Lady and The Tramp: Diamond Edition (DVD, Blu-Ray, and Movie Download) – What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than with one of Disney’s most famous love stories? Fall in love watching Lady and the Tramp fall in love with one another in this class film. Plus, the Diamond Edition means that audiences can see this film in Blu-Ray!
  • Disney Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: I Heart Minnie! (DVD) – In this film, the Clubhouse gang come together to celebrate Minnie’s birthday with a surprise party! Audiences can also join in Daisy in a talent show and help Leprechaun Pete find his pot of gold!

If you want to read more details about these and other Disney films, check out the Disney DVD website at http://disneydvd.disney.go.com/home.html

New Additions Coming To Disney World

New Additions Coming To Disney WorldPort Orleans Resort – Riverside is one of the lucky hotels that get brand new “Story Rooms.” Read below to find out what these rooms are all about!

As I talked about in this post, I love that WDW is continuously growing. In the next few months, the fine people at Disney are cranking out some of the most innovative and exciting updates in Disney history. Guests can expect a ton of new projects all across WDW and its other parks, including the largest expansion ever in Magic Kingdom. Here are some of the most talked about and exciting developments brought to you by Disney.

  • Fantasyland – For the first time in many years, Disney is planning a huge expansion and it takes place at Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland! There is so much to discuss about this expansion, that I will save all the details for another post. For those who are completely unfamiliar with this expansion, expect to see a ton of new rides, restaurants, and shops, all of which are inspired by your favorite Disney princesses and characters. I’m too excited for this! =D
  • Disney Story Rooms – The magic of Disney found throughout all the parks will soon be seen in various hotel rooms across many Disney resorts. These accommodations are called “Disney Story Rooms” and feature amazing improvements, like special effects and incredible décor that elevate the rooms into a whole new level. The first Story Rooms to be introduced were the Pirate Rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. Next up are the Royal Guests Rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside and will open this spring. These rooms celebrate some of Disney’s most notable princesses. Be sure to look of for more Story Rooms at Disney’s Art of Animation, which brings me to the next point….
  • Disney’s Art of Animation – As stated above, WDW’s newest resort will also feature Disney Story Rooms. These rooms will spotlight the hotel’s four themes: Cars, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and The Little Mermaid. In fact, the whole hotel is designed around these four infamous Disney films, absorbing guests into these movies’ worlds and creating a truly unique experience.
  • Hyperion Wharf – Pleasure Island in Downtown Disney (DTD) is being completely redone into a 120-acre shopping, dining, and entertainment center called “Hyperion Wharf”! This new complex will be reminiscent of waterfront boardwalks and piers during the 20thcentury. Hyperion Wharf is expected to be completed in 2013, though construction on the area has recently been delayed.
  • Splitsville – Also coming to DTD is Splitsville, an entertainment and nightlife epicenter! Along with bowling (hence the name =D), there will be billiards, music, and dining. Construction is anticipated to begin this fall.
  • Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship – The fourth ship to the Disney Cruise Line fleet will be unveiled in 2012. While the details are still a work in process, expect to see an adults-only entertainment district called Europa, an exciting new addition to Animator’s Palate called “Animation Magic”, and for the first time ever, an on-site Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique ~

Those new projects make me seriously happy! I’m especially excited for the Fantasyland expansion at Magic Kingdom. Fingers crossed for something Alice in Wonderland to be included! =)
