Hi everyone! So, life as a Wilderness Explorer is very, very busy. Even more busy than a Wildlife Express Train driver, ha! But I am happy to say that I’ve been enjoying my time so much and have gotten to try all kinds of new restaurants and treats! And I of course wanted to share them with you all!
First up is Sanaa, which is located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It is a gentle fusion between Indian and African food, and I have to say it was one of my favorites (if not my very favorite) restaurant I have eaten at so far during my internship. I got the “pick two” entrée, and I chose the buttered chicken and lentils. Both were delicious, but the chicken was definitely a stand out, “I’ll-order-THAT-again!” kind of meal. Plus, the restaurant is gorgeous, as is the entire resort. I suggest going there for a lunch, and then afterwards roaming around to see the animals (so many!) and décor.
I’ve also tried Olivia’s Café, which is over at Old Key West. This is a resort I had never been to before, and truthfully I kind of forgot it existed. To be honest, it isn’t the prettiest, but Olivia’s is pretty darn good, ha! I got the French dip, while my roommate got the pineapple burger. For such a heavy sandwich, the added arugula made the French dip surprisingly light. But if you are looking for something a little more exotic and different, definitely get the burger. The burger + pineapple + coconut bread (which is the star of the dish, FYI) doesn’t really make sense in your brain, but it sure does in your mouth…and that is what matters, right? =P We also got the conch fritters, which were good, but a little chewy. I am glad I can officially say I’ve tried conch now, but I don’t think I’ll order them again.
Personally, I have never considered Hollywood Studios to be a favorite when it comes to dining. But the other day I tried Mama Melrose, and my mind was quickly changed. First off, when you walk into the entryway, your senses are sent into overload with all the amazing aromas wafting about. Then, the menu offers an array of unique Italian dishes and each table is served delicious rolls. (Which our waiter continuously brought out and made us kids very happy, ha!) I decided on the Chicken Campanelle, which is a medley of chicken, veggies, and cheese. SO GOOD! Plus, the atmosphere is super fun!
Well I am off for some more adventure, but keep your eye out for another foodie update soon! =)
