I think one of every Disney goer’s favorite pastimes is to see how their picture turns out on Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Rockin’ Roller Coaster, or any attraction that snaps a photo mid-ride. The typically picture is a bunch of screaming, utterly happy vacationers smiling from ear to ear. You’ll also see those guests that have true expressions of terror on their face. (Like when my mom rode Tower of Terror, haha!)
But have you ever seen a photo were the riders are doing something completely crazy or silly? Most likely the culprit was a Disney employee! See, working at Disney, you ride the same rides A LOT. It doesn’t take long to know exactly where the camera will capture your image during the ride. (Space Mountain? The first turn you make out of the spinning tunnel. Expedition Everest? As soon as you exit the mountain, plummeting downwards 80 feet.)
Many Disney employees use this new found knowledge and come up with all kinds of silly picture ideas. Some common ones are pretending like you are dozing off to asleep or acting nonchalantly. And of course, me and my Disney pals came up with all kinds of funny scenarios. My favorites were when my roommate Katey and I had a mini tea party on Rockin’ Roller Coaster, the one time me, Kim, and Betsy acted like angels while riding Space Mountain during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and another Space Mountain goodie was when me, Katey, and Chelsea dressed up and acted like Dalmatians during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
Once you know where the camera is at, it is really fun to take advantage of. My family and I do this a lot too, especially on DINOSAUR at Animal Kingdom. Plus, there is the internet favorite where a girl gets proposed to while plunging down from Splash Mountain! (If you haven’t seen this one, Google it now! Best proposal ever! Seriously, that man should get a reward for being such a genius!) So next time you are at Disney, get your gang together and take a silly ride photo. It will be so much fun and a memory your family can always laugh at.
