The Grand Floridian Cafe truly is a hidden gem! Located inside the Grand Floridian Hotel (Disney’s Flagship resort), it’s an elegant, yet casual full-service restaurant. Since I’m a burger girl, the Lobster Burger has been on my bucket list for a couple of years now. We actually went on a day that we were at Magic Kingdom and since it’s a “Monorail Resort”, getting there was quick and easy. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and the service was outstanding. Our server was friendly, funny and very helpful. We were on the Disney Dining Plan, so we used (3) table service credits for a party of three. The food was even better than we expected, and we’ll definitely be back! And now let’s get to the food 😉
Bread basket: Complimentary
We love bread baskets, so we were excited to see the variety with this one….and the salted butter. I loved the mini-loaf with currants!
Seasonal Soup of the day: Corn & Crab Chowder 5.99
This was the perfect balance of sweet, rich and savory and quite hearty from all of the corn, crab and potato. Delicious!
Fried Green Tomatoes with Goat Cheese and Corn-Tomato Chow-Chow 6.99
We were under-whelmed with this dish. While the tomatoes were good, the chow chow was an odd accompaniment and felt disconnected from the dish. Also, the goat cheese was almost nowhere to be found and that creaminess would have made this much better.
Grand Floridian Angus Chuck Burger with Butter-poached Lobster, Red Onion Marmalade, and Arugula on a Brioche Bun with Chips 17.49
I was most excited about this and although it was absolutely delicious, I had to eat the lobster separate from the burger. The chunk of lobster was so big (and tough), that it was impossible to eat. Once I removed the lobster, I thoroughly enjoyed the burger. The onion marmalade was to-die-for and the burger was cooked perfectly. The mango ketchup was awful! Even our waiter said he wished they’d get rid of it because so few guests like it.
Boston Cream PieVanilla Chiffon Cake filled with Vanilla Custard and topped with a Dark Chocolate Glaze 3.49
I usually forgo dessert but am a sucker for dark chocolate! The cake and filling were quite sweet, so the dark chocolate was a nice contrast and deliciously smooth and creamy. The nuts were a nice touch and added some texture.
Have you eaten at GFC? If so, what did you think?
