I’ve always loved coffee and tea! I guess I get it from my dad. He drank coffee from the time he woke up to the time he went to bed. He worked outside every day of his life in the Florida heat and always had a thermos of hot coffee with him. He had a theory that drinking hot coffee did something to his body temperature and actually kept him cooler. I don’t think I ever saw him drink water, and he never got sick, so he must have been on to something. Although I don’t drink hot beverages outside on hot days (and don’t suggest you do either), I do prefer my coffee and tea to be hot when I drink it.
I was thrilled when Starbucks sent me the TAZO® Chai Latte K-Cup® pods to try. Who doesn’t get excited by a big box with a big bow on it?! It came with everything I needed to make 2 cups of chai, including the mug and spoon! I’ve actually been wanting a clear glass mug, so this made me very happy 🙂
If I’m being honest, chai (rhymes with ‘pie’) has never been one of my favorites. That said, I also haven’t had it in years, so this was a perfect opportunity to give it another go!
I adore my Keurig®, so the first thing that won me over is that it literally takes about 60 seconds to make – literally! The two-step process makes it easy-peasy.
First, choose the flavor you’re in the mood for from classic latte or vanilla caramel latte. Open the packet, and pour the contents into your mug.
Next, place the TAZO® Chai Latte K-Cup® pod into your Keurig®, choose the 8-ounce setting, and hit start.
When it’s done brewing, give it a good stir to dissolve the flavor packet and enjoy!
OK. I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed this beverage! It was perfectly sweet and creamy with just the right amount of spice. Ingredients like black pepper, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and star anise, come together for a unique and delicious treat. It feels exotic – and fancy! I was also fascinated to learn that chai tea actually dates back over 5000 years in Indian history. I just love little factoids like that.
Almost every afternoon, I have either a cup of tea or a coffee with a couple of cookies or a piece of dark chocolate. It’s how I relax as my work day winds down, and it recharges me for the rest of my evening. I forsee a lot of chai in my future 😉
Today I munched on some cookies that I already had, but Padma Lakshmi developed some recipes that pair perfectly with a cup of chai, and I can’t wait to try them! You can find them by visiting TAZO.com/chai/pairings
