My family has been making our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches this way for years. In fact, if you made a pb&j sandwich for my kids, they’d expect it to be grilled. Everyone we make these for loves them…what’s not love about melted peanut butter?!
There really isn’t a recipe. Just make the sandwich like you normally would, and then grill it until it’s golden brown on both sides. Low and slow works best and gives the peanut butter time to get all melty. I’ve even used butter flavor cooking spray in place of butter, and it comes out fine. Actually, I’m a little obessesed with butter spray and prefer it over real butter or margarine for most things. I think it has a more buttery flavor, and it’s much less greasy.
You can use any kind of peanut butter or jelly. Today I used the new Jif Almond Butter with Smucker’s Simply Fruit Rasberry Preserves, but my kids like straight up apple jelly with chunky peanut butter! Enjoy!
I like mine with a lot of peanut butter 😉
