I guess you could say I am equivalent to a toddler because I love to snack, ha! So, you can imagine my joy while at WDW since there are snack smorgasbords everywhere I turn! I think I enjoy snacking so much because it allows me to try a little of everything. I like all types of cuisines, so narrowing my entrée choice to one item is sometimes tricky. But with snacks, that problem is eliminated and my tummy is left happy!
Favorite Snack: Dole Whip Float
Where: Magic Kingdom and the Polynesian Resort
I don’t think there is more of a Disney food cult classic than the dole whip float. (FYI: I call them simply “dole whip” for short) If you ever done even a little bit of research on dining at Disney, I would bet that the dole whip is one of the first food items you will find. It is such a part of the Disney food culture, t-shirts have been made featuring the icy cool treat!
For those who do not know, a dole whip is a sorbet topped with pineapple juice. Think of it has the fruit and juice version of a root beer float. In recent years, Disney updated the sorbet selection to three options: pineapple, vanilla, or orange. Even better, now you have the choice to swirl two of these flavors together!
Personally, I like to get pineapple sorbet and pineapple juice combination. I am an avid lover of anything pineapple; so for me, the more the better! Also, I find the dole whips to be pretty big servings, so I like to share mine. Another thing I like about the dole whips are the prices: each are under $5 and are considered a “snack” on the Disney Dining Plan, woohoo!
The tricky part about getting a dole whip is that they are only offered in two locations. The first location is at Captain Cooke’s at Disney’s Polynesian. The second location is Aloha Isle, which is within Adventureland at Magic Kingdom. And beware: the lines at Aloha Isle can be long. But they are SO worth the wait!
I think one of my favorite things about the dole whip is its simplicity. It is so simple in fact, I am confident I can recreate it at home. And who wouldn’t want a little Disney brought back with them? I feel a DIY project coming along… =P
