If you have a garbage disposal, you may have wondered where that strange smell was coming from a time or two. If not cleaned properly, they can quickly become a haven for germs and bacteria. The good news is cleaning them is quick and easy!
To clean a garbage disposal:
- Freeze vinegar in ice cubes trays.
- Add a few cubes to the disposal.
- Turn on, run some cold water, and let the cubes be crushed by the blades.
That’s it! The ice not only cleans the inside but will also help keep the blades sharp. The vinegar is a natural deodorizer and helps to remove (and prevent) odors. Do this once a week or as necessary.
You can also add in some citrus peels. The peels help clean the blades and leave your kitchen smelling great!
