Day Four: Finding Clearance Everywhere at Disney

If you can’t see the video above, you can go HERE

We are finding MAJOR clearance all over the place! 75% off frames and 50% off towels at Animal Kingdom, 50-75% off in various gift shops (in the parks and at the resorts) and a lot of buy 1 get 1 deals. We rarely buy souvenirs and/or t-shirts, but the sales have been SO great that we have scored some amazing deals. So keep those eyes peeled  for clearance!! My daughter has actually spotted most of it, so I have to give props to her.

Day Three: Enjoying The Afternoon For Free At Disney

Disney’s Friendship Boats

One of our favorite things to do is explore Disney Resorts, take relaxing strolls along the walkways and hang out at the Boardwalk or Downtown Disney. You can easily make a day of this and have a blast without spending a dime if you don’t want to! Some of the things we enjoy seeing are, the Christmas decorations, street shows and performers and the beautiful landscaping/themes of the the resorts.

Ride the Friendship Boats: Take a relaxing (and romantic) boat ride with stops at Epcot, Boardwalk, Yacht/Beach Club, Swan/Dolphin, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom, Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge and Ft. Wilderness, Polynesian, Grand Floridian or Magic Kingdom.

Ride the Monorail: One circles the three Monorail resorts (Contemporary, Polynesian and Grand Floridian). This is a great way to see the resorts and the view.

Video: Disney Yacht & Beach Club Resort Guest Room

We’re here, all checked in and our room is UH-MAZING!! The view is incredible, right across from the Boardwalk, no obstructions and close to the pool. We went to Downtown Disney last night and I found CLEARANCE woohoo!! I didn’t expect it to be so chilly here at night, and all I have is light jackets, so I needed something heavier (I was FREEZING at DTD). I couldn’t find anything less than $50-$60 and right as I was about to give up, I saw a whole rack of 2010 Disney Fleece on clearance to $37…still a lot, but cheap for Disney (and they were super cute). For those of my Disney readers and fellow November Vacation Club members that are here now, the clearance was at The World of Disney store at Downtown Disney. This is BIG tip! Remember to look for (and ask for) clearance in the stores.

Saving Money at Disney World | Save While Traveling

Disney New and Deals

(Video Below Post or watch it HERE)

YAY! It is finally here (well…almost)! We are in Palm Bay, FL visiting family and will be at Disney on Saturday! I will not be posting any coupon deals from Friday 11/12/10 through Saturday 11/19/10 as I will be taking a much needed break with my family. My husband will be flying back to Afghanistan right after Thanksgiving so I want to soak up as much time with him as I can :-) You will however see a LOT of Disney information, including videos which we’ll be shooting from inside the parks! There are SO many ways to save money before, during, and after your trip, and I am super excited about sharing them with you! This is the second in our Saving Money at Disney Series

So, we have already discussed some of the ways to save money AT the parks, but the number ONE tip to save money on your Disney trip is to PLAN! I have been planning this trip for almost a year and have used a lot of my freebies and coupon deals to save tons of money. Make a list of everything you might need for the trip, in your room or at the park, and use coupons to to get them cheap or free. The goal is to buy as LITTLE as possible at Disney, where the prices will be much higher. I have three bags full of snacks, drinks, and health/beauty items that were all free or close to it. This will save my family tons of money! We needed shampoo, conditioner, band aids, facial cleanser, laundry detergent, toothpaste, snack, drinks etc. so instead of going to the store, I literally went “shopping” in my own stockpile/freebies! You can see more on this in my Tips For Saving Money At Disney World post.

The drive from Kentucky is approximately 13 hours, and we always stop halfway, so I used my freebies to pack an overnight bag. It saves money and we won’t have to unload all of the big suitcases/bags. We will also need some nourishment on our trip so I printed the following coupons:

  • Buy 1 Get 1 Free Ruby Tuesday Coupon
  • Free hot beverage at Pilot Travel Centers
  • Free Small Coffee at 7-Eleven
  • Free Coffee at Burger King Everyday Through 11/30
  • Buy 1 Get 1 Free Breakfast At Bob Evans
  • Buy 1 Get 1 Free Entree at Denny’s
  • Free Frutista Freeze at Taco Bell
  • $2 off a $10 Purchase 11/13/10 at Boston Market

We will obviously not use all of these coupons but I printed a variety because you never know where you’ll be when you want to stop (our GPS came in very handy for this)

Tips:

  • I saved all of my Panera Rewards which included 3 coffee/espresso drinks and 2 free pastries! Woohoo!! (I am addicted to Panera)
  • I bought restaurant gift certificates at 80% off to have dinner with my family in Palm Bay and at House of Blues in Downtown Disney.
  • I NEVER leave the house without the Entertainment Book and save hundreds of dollars a year with it. It is one of my TOP recommendations for saving money!
  • Have a picnic. My entire family loves and there is a rest stop we love in Tennessee that sits along the river. It makes for a nice, relaxing and cheap lunch :-)
  • Make your reservation online if you will need a hotel. Check for special offers, discounts and coupon codes and always join the hotel’s rewards program if they have one! I used a government discount and saved over $80 on our hotel and earned free Marriot Reward Points!
  • My husband has always had Pilot and Flying J Rewards card so that is the only place we stop for gas. As discussed in my Earn Rewards For Buying Fuel video, gas is something we HAVE to buy so you should be getting something back for it!
  • Many visitor centers offer free guides and brochures that have coupons in them. We stopped at one in north Florida that offered free fruit and juice!

Geez, could I say ‘obviously’ or ‘totally’ any more :-)  That’s it for now! Feel free to share any additional tips you have!

Video: Earn Rewards For Buying Fuel

ll

I have been a member of Speedy Rewards at Speedway Super America for about a year and have accumulated 47, 000 points that I can redeem for gift cards, fuel discounts or even free fuel! If you have a Speedway near you, and sign up for a card, be sure to buy the $50 fuel/merchandise card to score 1,000 points. You can then use that card to pay for your fuel and merchandise to earn additional points! If you do not have one near you, look in your area for gas stations that offer some type of rewards program. We have to buy gas…at least we can get something back!

* * I apologize for the blurriness of this video! We’re new at vlogging but we’ll get better :-)
