Disney Photo | Test Track At Epcot

Disney Photo Of The Day | Test Track At Epcot

Today’s Disney Photo is of my kids, niece and nephew on Test Track at Epcot, which is one of my TOP 3 favorite rides :-)

I’m a bit of a chicken when it comes to the big drops (although I love Everest…weird) but anything with SPEED is right up my alley. It’s a perfect combination of Disney’s state-of-the art theming and thrills without any terrifying drops and lots of speed! Once you board your car, you go through the General Motors proofing grounds and experience how they test their vehicles. After you ride, you can visit the show area featuring modern GM cars (my boys love this).

Disney Photo Of The Day: Humongous Desserts At Starring Rolls Cafe, Hollywood Studios

Starring Rolls Cafe Hollywood Studios Disney

Left: Butterfinger Cupcake – Back: Red Velvet Cupcake – Right: Tiramisu

I’m not much of a sweet eater, but I had read so much about the desserts at Starring Rolls Cafe in Hollywood Studios that I just had to try them. First let me just say that these desserts are HUGE…the picture does NOT do them justice. They can easily be shared and are a VERY good use of a snack credit if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan. We shared these three desserts between four people and still threw away a few bites. Next time, we know we only need two.

I cut open the Butterfinger Cupcake (left) and the Red Velvet Cupcake. They were both very moist, which is what I look for in any cupcake/cake type dessert, so that was good. However, these were SOOOOO sweet that I could only take a couple of bites washed down with black coffee. They were WAY too sweet for me, but my family enjoyed them (especially my hubby). I preferred the Red Velvet simply because it wasn’t AS sweet.

Not sure if I will ever get these again, but I am glad I tried them to see what all the hype was about.

Disney Photo Of The Day: Disney’s Haunted Mansion

Disney's Haunted MansionClick To Enlarge

I love this picture my husband got of the Disney’s Haunted Mansion. This has always been one of my favorites rides, and at over 7 minutes long, it is a nice break from the heat or just to rest your feet. It is located at the far back of Liberty Square, along the Rivers of America. Here are some fun facts:

* The Haunted Mansion is the only place in all of Disney where the cast members do not smile.

* The two columns on each side of the front door on the Mansion are coffins.

* The rose on the grave outside of the Haunted Mansion is dug up and replaced every morning to make it look like Mr Gracie was recently buried.

* In one of the Haunted Mansion’s early drafts, Walt Disney himself recorded the narration for the attraction but it was eventually replaced with today’s Ghost Host version.

* The Foyer is the only spot in the mansion in which you can take a flash photograph.

* Some of the Imagineers, who gave us the Haunted Mansion, are enshrined on the graveyard tombstones.

* There are two “No Doors and No Windows” for moving volume in and out of the ride.

* Remember to watch the picture over the fireplace changing as you are entering the room.

* At Disneyland, the Haunted Mansion was completed by 1963, but the Imagineers couldn’t decide what to do with the inside. This delayed the opening of the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland for several years (until 1969).

Disney Photo Of The Day: Main Street Confectionery at Magic Kingdom

Main Street Confectionery at Magic KingdomClick To Enlarge

A stop at Main Street Confectionery is like being transported to Disney Candy Heaven. This is ‘must do’ (at least once) on every trip. It is conveniently located just past the circle on the right side as you start down Main Street USA towards Cinderella Castle (we learned on our Keys To The Kingdom tour that the proper name is Cinderella Castle, not Cinderella’s Castle).  There are also many items here that qualify as a snack credit on the dining plan that can be found HERE (the Mammoth Cashew Pattie and Giant Rice Crispy Treats are our favorites)

Disney Photo Of The Day: My Favorite Meal

The Somoan at Kona CafeClick To Enlarge

I am the only non-breakfast eater in my family so I never expected to find the most amazing thing to ever pass my lips at breakfast! I present The Samoan. Two poached eggs with Hollandaise served over smoked pulled pork hash and topped with watercress. I am a texture girl and this dish has it all. The hash is crispy and savory, then you get a bite of the chewy smoked meat, the creaminess of the eggs and sauce and lastly a peppery bite of watercress…my mouth is watering. The Samoan can be found at Kona Cafe inside The Polynesian Resort and is one table service on the dining plan!

Disney Photo Of The Day: Candy Cane Garden

My beautiful daughter and I in front of Candy Cane Garden in The Magic Kingdom. Candy Cane Garden is an adorable sittng area that sits to the left of City Hall and is surrounded by giant candy canes. You can even mail a letter to Santa from here. The Christmas decorations at Disney start to go up around the first of November and are complete by Thanksgiving weekend. Disney puts up over 1,200 Christmas trees and hangs more than 5 miles of garland throughout the 4 theme parks and all of the resorts! It is absolutely stunning!
